Tension

Like many who are self-employed or work in sales, our work (and income) depends on numbers. How many calls we make, how many appointments we book, how many hold, the number of referrals, etc. We see the direct result of our work, and if we want to increase our income we make adjustments to increase our skill, retention rates, and the like.

Whether we talk about getting fit, increasing income, learning a language, or getting a handle on our finances, no one else can do the work for us. There must be an internal motivation that is stronger than our fear or resistance to the task. And sometimes that internal motivation isn’t stronger. This is when cognitive dissonance (and coaching) can be a huge help.

The tension between what we want and what we’re willing to do to achieve it gives us opportunities to self-reflect, to ask ourselves questions about our goals, motivations, and tolerance and how things have changed. Sometimes we don’t know what questions to ask ourselves or are stuck.

Coaching can help.

Coaching is a short-term relationship designed to help you with self-discovery and action. The coaching session is a transformational conversation aimed at getting you clarity on what you want and how to achieve it.

Questions to ponder:

  • Where am I experiencing tension in my life? What could I do about it?

  • Do I feel like I’m stuck or need an outside perspective?
